How to write your Resume

Your resume is important, since it will be the first impression that a company will have of you and can be the door to a future meeting or interview.

A resume must be concise, organized and with the most relevant information readily detectable (contact information, training and work experience). Make it yours!

General guidelines that can be of help:

ORGANIZE IT

An indicator of a well structured resume is that the most important information should appear on the first or second page, making it easy for the person reading the document. It is therefore advisable to reflect your work experience in reverse chronological order (starting with the most current jobs)

Use headers and/or titles to make it easier to read, and remember to highlight those details that are important and have more priority.

ADAPT IT

If the companies can easily see the connection between what they are looking for and what you are offering, you are already halfway there. This is why it is important that you adapt your resume to the job you are applying for, emphasizing those experiences, skills, knowledge and successes relevant to the position.

CHECK IT

An organized, professional and strategically thought resume significantly increases the chances of success. Do not forget to check your document, and verify the company requirements to receive the application (format and/or specific information).

Remember to also check:

  • That you have been concise and you have focused on the relevant details for the position, as well as the most recent jobs.
  • That you have used straightforward vocabulary.
  • That you have used a single format – consistency and clarity are important.
  • That you have met the company requirements for the applications.
